Car Navigation
Systems
It seems as if with each new model year
we see more and more vehicles coming straight from the factory
with high quality GPS systems. It is no wonder since these new
car navigation systems make traveling safer and easier then
ever before. It doesn't matter if you are driving across town
or across country, after using a navigation system, you'll be
hooked and wonder how you ever got along without one.
There are some GPS system features that have become common
in just about all kinds of GPS devices. All car navigation
systems work with various satellites that remain in
orbit around the earth. There are twenty four satellites with
ground stations that report and send positioning data to GPS
devices. The orbits of these satellites will move repeatedly
once in a day with the altitude of the orbits being to where
the satellites will move in the same positions every twenty
four hours. Also, six orbital planes are used with forty five
degree inclines for accuracy.
The satellites and ground stations are all still operated by
the United States Department of Defense. This system was
originally used for military combat operations and for tracking
military equipment. Because of the intense need for accuracy in
these operations the Department of Defense developed the GPS
system to help make tracking easier to handle. One of the Auto
GPS system features that works with all GPS devices is that a
device can find locations of items within mere inches. This is
because the same technology used by the military is being used
in these GPS devices.
Car Navigation Systems arebecoming more commonplace these
days. The GPS system features that can be used by any of these
devices have evolved as the GPS technology has progressed.
These features are making the GPS system something that is a
must have for anyone. It is interesting to see someone using a
GPS system for the first time. In most cases even the those who
viewed GPS as a toy are quickly won over with the convenience
and safety factor. Within a short period of time, the new user
wonders how they ever got along without it.
